Assessing Integrative Learning (IL)
Regular opportunities to practice elements of Integrative Learning should be embedded naturally in courses. Every assignment may not include all elements of Integrative Learning. However, some level of reflection should be part of every assignment. Assignments which include Integrative Learning should include some feedback and grade element related to the IL characteristic; IL grading should be naturally present in the rubric.
AACU Integrative Learning VALUE RubricThe America Association of Colleges and Universities VALUE rubric is a good starting place for assessing Integrative Learning, but realize that this rubric needs to be adapted to the rigor, expectations, and requirements for the specific assignment.
